Places of Interest

On every Frog trail route, you will pass interesting spots which tell stories of the past history and present day of Gamesley. Keep an eye out for the following sites:

1. Roman Gardens

   • With current plans in place to add planters and benches to this green space, this spot is great for dog walkers and nature lovers with views of the surrounding hills.

2. Melandra Fort

   • The best-preserved Roman fort in the region is located right here in Gamesley! Bowls, jewellery and statues have been dug up from this site where military headquarters and a bathhouse were once located. Try to imagine the once-bustling military base.

3. Melandra Park

   • The home pitch of Gamesley FC- pop along on a Saturday afternoon to see the team in action. Gamesley Community Centre and Twig Cafe are located in front, where you can always come in for a chat or refreshments.

4. Allotments

   • Peer into these vegetable patches where fresh food is grown and urban wildlife uses as their habitat.
